# Introduction

The world's first hardware wallet without a seed phrase backup

Cypherock builds hardware wallets that remove the single point of failure of a seed phrase. Every Cypherock wallet is split into 5 cryptographic shards using Shamir's Secret Sharing, so no single device ever permanently stores your complete wallet. Any 2 shards are enough to make a transaction, and even if you lose up to 3 of them, your assets are still accessible.

There are two Cypherock wallets. Both meet the same security standard, each offering a different way to own your crypto:

* **Cypherock X1:** the X1 Vault, a dedicated device with its own screen, together with 4 X1 Cards and the cySync desktop app.
* **Cypherock X0:** 4 X0 Cards together with the X0 Wallet App on the phone you already carry.

Cypherock X1 is a unique hardware wallet that is BIP39 compliant and does not require any form of seed phrase backup to be maintained by the user (although you still can if you want). Cypherock's aim is to promote freedom through the self-custody of funds by building a seamless wallet experience.

Cypherock X0 Founder's Edition is the world's most affordable secure hardware wallet. Like Cypherock X1, it is BIP39 compliant and does not require any form of seed phrase backup to be maintained by the user (although you can still view your seed phrase if you want).

Cypherock X0 is built for a mobile-first world. Instead of a separate device, it pairs 4 X0 Cards with the X0 Wallet App on your iOS or Android phone. Your wallet is split into 5 shards: one on each X0 Card, and one stored encrypted in your phone's hardware-backed secure storage. For everyday use, all you need is your phone and any one X0 Card.

Every security-sensitive operation happens inside the EAL6+ certified secure element of the X0 Card you tap. The card reconstructs your wallet, signs your transaction and then erases every temporary secret. Your phone never signs a transaction.
